Follow These Safety Steps

  • Never fail to read the product label on the can, and abide by all the safety precautions and guidelines stated therein. The label offers first aid measures to be employed in cases of accidents.

  • Paint in a well-ventilated area and also make sure the walls and surfaces are dry enough to absorb the paint (unless otherwise stated by the company). Keep all windows open for 3 to 4 days after painting is done to avoid exposure to vapors off gassing from the paint.

  • Observe frequent air breaks when painting to avoid inhaling the chemicals from the paint. Even when using a respirator take a few minutes to get some fresh air.

  • Window-mounted box fans should be used to exhaust vapors from the area where a painting was carried out and if fans cannot be used, make sure the painted rooms have enough cross-ventilation.

  • Young children and individuals with breathing problem should be kept away from freshly painted rooms. In many instances, it can take several days to fully cure enough for occupancy. Try using a milk based paint for your kid's rooms.
